The Cato College of Education’s teacher education programs are accessible to all potential students, whether the traditional undergraduate or someone interested in enrolling in one of the affordable, distance education graduate certificate programs. Our teacher candidates are among the most prepared in the state of North Carolina. Our current pass rate on edTPA, a national metric for teacher preparedness, is over 90%.

As one of the largest teacher preparation institutions in the state, the Cato College of Education works to ensure that all teacher candidates–whether in Manteo or Wilmington–have access to a high quality education.
Recognized for Excellence.
Graduates from the Cato College of Education have been recognized at the state and national level, earning more than 50 teacher or administrator of the year awards since 2015.

At UNC Charlotte, we have 18 initial licensure teacher preparation programs and 18 advanced licensure programs to prepare classroom and child center educators.
